The first edition of the Internacional Colloquium on Philosophy of Mind was held in 1999 at The São Paulo State University (UNESP) at Marília, under the coordination of Prof. Gonzalez and Prof. Wrigley. The first Colloquium was dedicated to the topic "Internalist versus externalist accounts of conscious experience".  The second, third, fourth and fifth editions were held, respectively, in 2000, 2002, 2005 and 2009, at The Federal University of Paraíba (UFPB) at João Pessoa, under the general coordination of Prof. Leclerc. These meetings were dedicated to the topics of mental causation, the mind/language relationship, reductionism and physicalism. The sixth edition, which took place at the The Federal University of Ceará (UFC) at Fortaleza, in 2011, under the coordination of Prof. Leclerc and Prof. Arruda, was dedicated to the topic "Intentionality and Consciousness". The seventh edition was held at The São Paulo State University (UNESP) at Marília, in 2013, under the coordination of Prof. Broens, Prof. Gonzalez and Prof. Cecon, and was dedicated to the topic "Information, Complexity and Action".   The eighth edition was held at The Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG) at Belo Horizonte, in 2016, under the coordination of Prof. Coelho, Prof. Carvalho and Prof. Abath, and it was dedicated to the topic "Free Will and Moral Agency".

Since the Colloquium is fundamentally organized by members of the Working Group on Philosophy of Mind (GT Filosofia da Mente), which is affiliated with the The Brazilian National Association of Graduate Studies in Philosophy (ANPOF), and given the fact that the biennial ANPOF Meetings take place in every even-numbered year, it was decided that this next edition of the Colloquium will take place, exceptionally, in a subsequent year and, henceforth, the biennial periodicity will be strictly observed, in order to avoid having both events at the same year. Hence, the ninth edition of the Colloquium will take place in 2017 at The Federal University of São João del-Rei (UFSJ) at São João del-Rei, under the coordination of Prof. Toledo, Prof. Gouvea and Prof. Alves.
